We are currently looking to recruit a Front-End Developer to drive web development initiatives within Jetstar Group.  Reporting to the Development Lead, this role will work closely with other business areas, external suppliers and agencies to define functional requirements into working functionality by developing high-quality code for Jetstar web-based systems

Other key responsibilities include:

• Turn the requirement backlog into working functionality by developing high-quality, high-performing code


• Work closely with Testers to ensure all codes are easy to test and pass acceptance criteria


• Pair program with other Developers where required


• Maintain development standards of the team


• Write reliable and maintainable software to solve business problems and clearly communicate technical options and trade-offs with business users


• Stay abreast of the latest trends and techniques in software development


• Help the team achieve project goals while being aware of and sensitive to the overall business goals


• Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups and retrospectives


• Perform task estimation and solution design in sprint planning sessions


• Continually improve and evolve agile development practices and tools to drive the team productivity


• Interface with offshore team members and work to improve communication between remote locations


• Help capture and document business and interface functionality requirements as basis for development


• Provide advice and direction to management on web development issues


• Participate in a 24×7 on call roster if required


• Perform tasks delegated by the Application Development Manager

Applicants should possess the following attributes:

• Bachelor’s degree (Computing/Information Systems)


• Strong in HTML5, CSS3, Sass, and responsive web design techniques


• Strong in modern Javascript, libraries and tools (ES6, React, Redux, Webpack)


• Experience with single-page app frameworks and asynchronous data


• Understanding of functional programming, efficient data structures, and good coding principles


• Understanding of cross-browser compatibility and client-side performance


• Comfortable working with UX and UI designers, as well as back-end developers in an agile team environment


• Highly motivated and able to deal with multiple time sensitive tasks


• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organisation


• Must be willing to travel
