The Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia is shaping the future of multiple air, land and sea platforms which is delivering critical capability for the Australian Defence Force. The Wakulda System is a world-leading Air Defence Command & Control (C2) System. It is a network-centric ground-based air surveillance and control system, which supports C4ISR capabilities to conduct surveillance and air battlespace management missions.

As part of this capability growth, Boeing Defence Australia is seeking an experienced System Architect to lead the Wakluda system architecture and capability delivery.

As a System Architect you will create a vision for the architecture and integration of emerging requirements through the development of roadmaps for capability insertion for the Wakulda System. You will work within the Wakulda Portfolio Management Team and be instrumental in leading feature definition and development for assigned Agile Execution Teams.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to directly contribute to the delivery for future Air Battlespace Management capabilities for the Commonwealth of Australia.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction of the system and lead the system design effort

• Promote a culture of platform stewardship within the Wakulda team

• Engage key stakeholders and subject matter experts across technical engineering and specialty areas to understand the concept of operations and user needs

• Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to requirements development and management including analysis of functional and non-functional requirements, functional performance specifications, architecture and interfaces to develop effective solutions.

• Review and approve systems engineering documentation and artefacts.

• Work collaboratively with program leadership to plan Feature development within each Program Increment in alignment with the System Development Master Plan.

Experience/Qualifications 

• System architect experience leading a complex system design

• Experience leading in a software centric system solution

• Model Based Systems Engineering understanding and implementation

• Experience guiding the implementation of cyber security requirements in the system design

• Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage, influence and negotiate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and customers.

• Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle management, including Mandated System Reviews.
