Solution Architect – Digital

Synopsis

The purpose of this role is to lead and drive the design & development of technology solutions for Digital platforms with special focus on Digital distribution (Web & Mobile), Offer, Order, Merchandising and Personalisation, Customer Management and payment systems. The role should provide thought leadership and strategic direction, to influence the overall roadmap with initiatives that are value generating. 
Working with business stakeholders and internal and external development teams, the role will ensure the alignment of solution designs conforming to regulatory demands, architectural standards, business requirements, budgets, and IT strategy

Accountabilities

•    Responsible for developing design & Architecture for implementing Etihad websites, mobile, social and other e-commerce applications that are following agile architecture principles & standards (emergent design, intentional design)
•    Provide holistic and connected solution design that meets the business strategy and requirements.
•    Being an integral part of the value stream, this role is responsible for developing short term & long-term roadmap along with target state architecture with clear transition steps to improve digital landscape in Etihad Aviation Group. This includes developing specific design patterns, standards, and an active architecture runway on an ongoing basis.
•    Responsible for creating and maintaining Architecture Runway for digital technologies, and drive transformation of our booking engine and offer & merchandising platforms.  
•    Ensure solution and technology architecture standards, governance and principles are implemented effectively within the value streams using the Etihad Well Architected Framework.
•    Works closely with all stakeholders to ensure the solutions defined & developed align with the agreed technology roadmaps, business capability model, organizational strategy and are implemented as designed. 
•    Build strong relationships with our partners and extended team members, and embrace collaborative approach to developing strategies, solutions, business cases, white papers etc. 
•    Provide consultation to the product and project delivery teams, identifying and owning ways to apply new or existing technologies to support business initiatives, innovation, facilitating the reuse of ideas, components, services, and proven patterns within the value stream 
•    Develop the design and implementation of solution architecture as part of both agile and waterfall delivery, enabling speed to market
•    Be an active member of the working group to improve the maturity of Architecture practice, by constantly evaluating and making necessary changes to patterns, standards, policies, guardrails, and other enablers.

Education & Experience

•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant advanced degree is mandatory
•    One or more Certification in Solution and/or Enterprise Architecture desirable – e.g. Well Architected Frameworks, SAFe Architect, TOGAF, Open Certified Architect, ISEB Architecture

•    Solution and Technology Architecture expertise with a minimum of 8 years of work experience, with at least 5 years in airline, and with a proven track record in executing complex IT projects. Prior experience in architecting end to end airline e-commerce / booking engine solutions along with offer management is preferred.
•    Experienced within Digital delivery environments such as mobile, web & social 
•    Experienced in delivering highly integrated and multi-channel solutions
•    Experience of Enterprise architecture, Service Oriented Architecture, microservices, and other integration methodologies, ideally in Airline Booking Engine or E-commerce experience in any other industry vertical 
•    Experience in the developing API-based and Service Oriented architecture 
•    Experience with the architecture of mission critical, high transaction volume environments
•    Experience with the full software development life-cycle using traditional and agile methodologies.
•    Knowledge of multiple technologies including (but not limited to): Java, C#, VB, .NET, ASP.Net, , Front end technologies ( Angular, React, React Native etc.), Enterprise Integrations (middleware, API gateway, streaming etc.), Content Management Systems (e.g. AEM) and Customer Relation Management (MS Dynamics/ Salesforce)
•    Excellent communication skills with experience in C level stakeholder management. The position requires working closely with other architects, business teams, and project teams
•    Proven experience in recognizing the corporate strategy and realizing all business processes that define how a company achieves its strategic goals.
•    Experience in seeking the alignment of business and IT, driving common approaches, delivering sustainable, re-usable enterprise architecture using both agile and waterfall methodologies.
