Overview
Purpose
Responsible for providing leadership, setting the strategy, designing, developing, implementing and monitoring
performance of the Occupational Health & Safety (OSH) management system for Etihad Aviation Group in
compliance with OSHAD SF. To act as the EAG OSH Management Representative to the regulator and other
authorities. Responsible for overseeing all business activities, setting departmental & individual objectives,
developing & motivating staff. Responsible for continued improvement of the OSH culture.
Accountabilities
1. Responsible for designing, developing and delivering safety and compliance processes, procedures and
campaigns, leading project team ensuring all stakeholders are appropriately involved in the management of
change, ensuring safe operations and minimizing the risk of injury/illness, and aircraft/property/equipment
damage.
2. To establish and maintain an effective and integrated OSH Management System in accordance with the
OSHAD SF and the UAE civil defences Regulations amongst EAG.
3. Responsible for the performance of the OSH -MS, providing occupational safety & health governance and
oversight to all EAG business units ensuring safe operations to avoid injury/illness and
aircraft/property/equipment damage.
4. Responsible for leading and directing multiple teams in delivering a safer workplace at all work locations in
the UAE and across the network, aiming to achieve best in class standards and culture.
5. Ensure the effective achievement of the OSH functional objectives through leadership of the production,
maintenance & associated function – setting departmental & individual objectives, managing performance,
developing & motivating staff.
6. Keep abreast of OSH trends through analysis of relevant data, analysing internal and external trends,
providing statistical analysis and developing solutions for the manage non-compliance, hazards and risks.
7. Responsible for implementation of safety management plan right from concept to handover.
8. Responsible of conducting HSE inspections and participating in HSE audits on established procedure on a regular basis.
9. Responsible for all aspects of safety including inducting, inspecting, safety risk assessment and safety management.
10. Ensure the effectiveness of the Health and Safety Program are in line with HSE Policy and Objectives of EAG.
Education & Experience
- A Higher National Diploma or alternative higher level educational qualification
- A NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, obtained within the UAE
- Experience working in a high-risk industry (e.g. Oil and Gas, Aviation, Construction). Candidates coming from highly regulated, high density and extreme condition industries preferred.
- A minimum 10+ years’ experience in relevant OSH positions
- Excellent understanding of OSH regulation and policy
- Consolidating and integrating OSH policies across multiple business units to ensure uniformity
- Understanding of how to interpret regulation and implement appropriate policy without restricting operational efficiency
- People management experience, including managing a culturally diverse workforce
- Experience in managing departmental budgets
