Overview
Purpose
The Safety Investigator-Airworthiness reports directly to Manager Quality Safety Investigation and is responsible for leading the investigation go-team and representing the company in compliance with the GCAA CAR SMS Iss 06.
Accountabilities
- Performing internal safety investigations of non-routine occurrences and incidents related to the airworthiness of the aircraft
- Analyzing and interpreting factual information gathered from investigations Identifying safety recommendations to the organization in order to avoid repeated safety incidents.
- Assessing the severity of safety incidents to determine the extent of the company’s response to an incident.
- Composing and reviewing safety investigation reports that will be published to the associated
- stakeholders within the company. These reports maybe distributed to governmental authorities and other external stakeholders.
- Maintaining the safety management system database to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data entered into the database for future statistical use.
- Researching the latest technologies in investigation and human factors (e.g., MEDA, HFACS, etc.) to ensure that the investigations are carried out in accordance with best industry practices.
- Additional duties and responsibilities, as reasonably expected, may be assigned as required.
Education & Experience
- Successful completion of an aircraft accident investigation course
- Successful completion of an aviation Safety Management System training course
- Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Recommended)
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to engineering, safety or aviation is recommended
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- General business management training, including human resources, performance and project management
- Advanced computer literacy in office productivity applications
