Role Summary

The Principal, Financial  Reporting reports to the Director, Technical Accounting & External Reporting and is instrumental in the timely and successful filing of all external financial reporting. The successful candidate is responsible for all matters surrounding external financial reporting , internal financial reporting, audit coordination, designing and developing accounting policies and procedures, and technical accounting matters. The Principal is responsible for the preparation and filing of the company’s external financial documents as well as the compilation and delivery of financial and operational information to individuals within the organization. The successful candidate will also take ownership of the quarterly adjusted EBITDA process (used for our external Earnings Releases) and be responsible for certain Corporate GL activities on a monthly and quarterly basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in financial reporting, preferably in SEC reporting, exceptional project management skills, and an ability and interest in doing research and conclude on complex accounting issues. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, drive development and efficiencies, have excellent project management skills, experience in fast-paced environments, and ability to work with various internal departments, an interest in continuous improvement and a drive to grow with the Company. This position provides an opportunity to make an immediate impact with a high level of visibility within the company and provides a great transitional opportunity out of public accounting or somebody wanting to broaden their experience base.

Location: Can be anywhere in the United States  (Denver, CO preferred – relocation assistance available)

Remote Options: Option to be 100% remote or on a hybrid arrangement

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Manage preparation of financial statements, footnotes, schedules, management discussion and analysis at a quality level expected in filings of Forms 10-K and 10Q with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
  • Own and manage Adjusted EBITDA process.
  • Perform technical research of accounting pronouncements and conclude on accounting and reporting treatment for complex transactions.
  • Manage and coordinate financial audits, including the quarterly review process and annual audit process. Address audit issues and findings.
  • Manage and coordinate statutory financial audits of non-U.S. (international) legal entities, including preparation of statutory financial statements, coordinating efforts with local external auditors, and filings of Annual Reports with local authorities.
  • Manage Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance with respect to key controls in certain areas of accounting and financial reporting, including policy implementation and compliance.
  • Assist in financial due diligence and purchase accounting of business acquisitions and manage integration of acquired entities into the financial reporting process. Manage accounting and financial reporting of business divestiture.
  • Own and manage various valuation work such as goodwill impairment, intangible asset impairment, equity awards etc.
  • Coach and train new and existing staff as needed to support their ongoing development.
  • Assist in CAO and CFO initiatives, which may include special projects, new policies, practice improvements, and research.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. 

What We’re Looking For  

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of general accounting and external reporting experience (SEC).
  • Experience in revenue recognition, stock compensation accounting, lease accounting and business combination accounting.
  • Experience in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Experience in researching and concluding on accounting issues.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, financial and systems skills are required.
  • Experience with financial reporting software (Oracle, HFM, Workiva/Merrill-Bridge or similar) preferred.
  • Experience working in global business.
  • CPA certification required.

The anticipated starting salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $95,000 – $127,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as location, experience, skills, certifications…etc.
