General Summary:

To supervise the efficient coordination of exterior refurbishment activity to meet or exceed customer schedules while maintaining high quality control standards.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Effectively lead/direct team to deliver customer aircraft on time, on budget and squawk free.
  • Develop and maintain efficient/high performance team striving to achieve man-hour objectives.
  • Efficiently supervise the assigned production activity on the shop floor 
  • Coordinate the proper application of manpower for each job in order to satisfy the scheduling requirements.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of all assigned work orders for the paint department.
  • Assist employees with troubleshooting/administrative problems that arise.
  • Ensure that all completed assigned tasks have been inspected in accordance with the repair station manual.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, safe and professional working environment.
  • Ensure customer communication for all assigned shop activity.
  • Participate in meetings with key cross department personnel in order to coordinate inter-departmental activity, hanger shuffles, test flights, aircraft wash, etc.
  • Perform advance planning to enable a smooth workflow for the projects.
  • Ensure team members have tooling and materials needed to accomplish assigned task in a timely manner to maximize efficiencies.  
  • Ensure goal times are assigned to every discrepancy and manage the time to assure expectations are meet by the technicians.
  • Daily monitor the work in progress to assure that labor and materials are applied to each work order properly.
  • Daily review employee’s time cards for correct information.
  • Present the work order upon completion of a project ready to close to the Paint Shop Manager for final review before being invoiced. 
  • Ensure or prepare the Job Team Review forms after completion of the project and review with the Paint Shop Manager.
  • Participate in the performance review process for all assigned team members.
  • Promptly report any airworthy situations to the chief inspector.
  • Respond to aircraft paint “call-outs” as needed.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • 10 years of jet aircraft exterior refurbishment or similar experience
  • 5 years of aircraft exterior refurbishment project management experience
Physical:
  • Regularly required to:
    • Stand, walk, climb, or balance
    • Reach with hands or arms, grasp or pull
    • Lift objects of up to 25 lbs. 
    • Ability to wear PPE.
  • Occasionally required to:
    • Talking or hearing
    • Sitting, kneeling, stooping, crouching or crawling 
    • Lifting up to 50 lbs. 
    • Regularly exposed to:
    • Toxic or caustic chemicals
    • Fumes and loud noises
  • Occasionally works in:
    • High or precarious places
Other:
  • Must be able to work various shifts (including weekends) and overtime as needed
  • Occasional overnight travel.
